Be On LBI Time: April Showers? No Worries this Weekend!

squarebeonlbi_logoHey there all of you fabulous LBI lovers! While it’s true we boast the most glorious beaches here on Long Beach Island, there is so much more beyond the dunes to partake in and enjoy here on our glorious sandbar.

Even in inclement weather – as Mother Nature is predicted to continue to bestow on us this weekend.

Yes! Additionally, many of these activities are free or of little cost to you. From Barnegat to Beach Haven – and a few stops in between, we invite you to check out some of these awesomely fun indoor activities below:

In honor of Barnegat Light State Park’s 65th Anniversary, grab your family and challenge them to ascend the 217 steps of the Barnegat Lighthouse. It is open Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Your reward? Amazing views of LBI, Island Beach State Park and the surrounding areas.

On Saturday at the LBI Foundation of Arts &  Sciences (LBIF) in Loveladies, you can get your science on beginning at 11 a.m with its weekly Science Saturday program. This weekend, participants will ensconced in learning all about the jellyfish that reside in the Barnegat Bay.

Immediately following Science Saturday, families can embark on a ceramics adventure at the LBIF, beginning at 12:30 p.m. Participants can make a bowl, mug or party plate to take home with them.

Once you and your family have had your fill at the North End, you can head down to Beach Haven for some fun & games (literally) at the Fantasy Island arcade. The arcade opens at Noon.

Finally, and also in Beach Haven, allow yourself to become immersed in shipwrecks, storms and diver tales of old at the New Jersey Maritime Museum. The museum, which is currently open on weekends only from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., boasts the largest collection of maritime artifacts in the state of New Jersey!
