17th Annual Jetty Clam Jam
The 17th Annual Jetty Clam Jam is almost here! The contest waiting period begins Saturday, September 9, 2023.
The event is run on a Saturday or Sunday in September or October when the waves and weather are favorable. We reserve the right to run the contest on a weekday once November hits, but will do our best to optimize a weekend date.
September 30th and October 7th are blackout dates due to Chowderfest and Shellabration, so the contest will not be held on either of those days.
Surfers: Check in at 7AM. First heat in the water at 8AM (at the latest). We’re battling daylight with 96 surfers. If you cannot make the event once it is a go, then please let us know so we can fill in an Alternate surfer.
Rules & Regulations
– The Clam Jam is open to local LBI surfers by invite only
– Top wave score per surfer counts
– Surfer #1 best wave score + Surfer #2 best wave score = Team score (average of three judges)
– Waves are scored based on technical maneuvers
Registered surfers must confirm that they are confident and have advanced ability in all ocean conditions (including rip currents, 6ft+ surf, strong winds, and heavy and/or critical waves). Ocean conditions can change very rapidly, and all participants should be prepared for anything from knee high waves to overhead hurricane swells on shallow sandbars. We reserve the right to determine who is qualified and ready to surf in the Clam Jam.
