SCHOONER “AMERICA” ARRIVES AT LIGHTHOUSE MARINA IN BARNEGAT LIGHT AS PART OF THE AMERICA’S CUP TOUR

The Schooner “America” which is currently on an America’s Cup Tour of the United States will be making a once in a lifetime stop on Long Beach island. “America” is a painstaking replica of the original schooner which in 1851 stunned the world by winning the legendary sailing race around the Isle of Wight and won the trophy that now bears her name. She will be docked at Lighthouse Marina in Barnegat Light (19 W 6th Street) on Sunday August 28 and Monday August 29. Free dock tours will be held both days from 10:30 – 12:30. The public also has the unique opportunity to sail aboard this vessel by going to www.fareharbor/yachtamerica and ordering tickets. There will be a 1pm and a 4:30pm sail on Monday August 29. There also may be a limited number of tickets still available for the 4:30pm sail on Sunday August 28. Space is limited and tickets are on a first come, first serve basis through the website listed above.

“America” will also be making stops in Cape May on August 30-31 and Philadelphia on September 2-3. This truly is an event not to be missed.
