Songs You Love to Hear
May 4, 2019 @ 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM
The Third Concert in the Holy Innocents’ Spring Concert Series, “Songs You Love to Hear” by Elizabeth M. Meagher, Soprano, and Friends, with Spenser R. Gallo, Accompanist, will be held on Saturday, May 4, at 4pm, at Holy Innocents’ Episcopal Church, Marine Street, Beach Haven.
This concert addresses themes of faith, love and friendship, and invitation. Faith will be addressed through hymns and songs that remind us of how important it is to recognize God’s presence around us. The St. Ann School choir from Lawrenceville, NJ, will share songs of faith. As for love, some standards and Broadway hits that recall romance, parental love, hope, and friendship will be included. The invitation theme is all about the audience, who is invited to sing out with the opening hymn and the Broadway medley. The audience should feel free, also, to harmonize, tap their toes, and “Whistle a Happy Tune” along with songs from shows and movies, including music by the prolific duo of Rodgers and Hammerstein.
Beth Meagher has degrees from Marywood University and The College of New Jersey. She teaches middle school at St. Ann School in Lawrenceville, NJ. Beth is a founding member of the Capital Singers of Trenton. She is a longtime cantor and member of the adult choir, contemporary ensemble, and handbell choir of St. Paul, Princeton.
All are welcome! A free will offering will be taken, and the concert will be followed by a reception.
