Long Beach Island offers so many awesome recreational sports and activities during the warm summer months. Check out these four classics and try one during your next visit!
- Charter Fishing – LBI is home to numerous boats and captains offering inshore, offshore, and overnight trips for this type of fishing. Check out Beach Haven or Barnegat Light (and in between!) for boats leaving out of these popular areas.
- Surfing – A lifelong hobby for many LBI locals, surfing is one of the best sports associated with LBI. This activity is great for all ages who are already able to swim. With many rental shops located across the island, it shouldn’t be hard to get your hands on a loaner board and book your first lesson!
- Paddleboarding – Traditional prone, as well as stand-up paddleboarding, have both been gaining popularity for the past decade or so. Want to try it out? Rent one at a local shop and explore the bay or try stand-up paddleboard yoga at one of our local yoga studios!
- Nature Trails – Trying to stay dry? Take a short hike through a nature trail! There are many located on LBI, including Barnegat Lighthouse State Park, LBIF, Hideaway Bay, and more.
