Be On LBI Time: Festivity, Joy and Christmas Spirit on the Sandbar

beonlbichristmassquareHey there all of you fabulous LBI lovers! Grab your tinsel, your reindeer ears and bring along all of the holiday merriment you can muster as the sandbar will be rocking with the joyous sounds of the season all weekend long – especially in Ship Bottom!

While Santa and Mrs. Claus made their debuts on the north end last weekend, they’ll be kicking things up mid-Island with the 37th Annual Ship Bottom Christmas Parade – an absolute must-see event! Tree lightings and blood drives – a wonderful way to give of yourself this holiday season – will also be taking place.

If you want to get yourself in the holiday spirit – join us this weekend for more wonderful community traditions with old neighbors and new friends you might meet along the parade route!

Here are the highlights and happenings this festive first week of December in paradise:

Thursday, December 1:

American Red Cross Blood Drive: 1 to 6 p.m. A perfect way to give to others this holiday season. The American Red Cross Blood Drive will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Church Hall in Brant Beach. Appointments are preferred and can be made at the Red Cross website: redcrossblood.org (keyword LBI St Francis) or by calling the Community Center at 609-494-8861. Walk-ins are also welcome.

Friday, December 2:

Ship Bottom Annual Christmas Tree Lighting: 6 to 7 p.m. Music, merriment, carol singing and refreshments. All are invited to bring an ornament to help decorate the tree in front of Borough Hall.

LBI Rotary Annual Holiday Auction: 6 to 11 p.m. Join the LBI Rotary at the Grand Ballroom at Sea Oaks Country Club for their annual holiday auction. Tickets are $85.

Saturday, December 3:

37th Annual Ship Bottom Christmas Parade: Begins at 1 p.m. Line up along the parade route from 5th to 25th Streets on Long Beach Boulevard in Ship Bottom and enjoy the 37th Annual Ship Bottom Christmas Parade with your fellow community members!

Ship Bottom Volunteer Fire Company Tinsel & Treasures Merchant Mart & Christmas Tree Sale: 1:30 to 5 p.m. In conjunction with the Christmas Parade, The Ship Bottom Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary is hosting “Tinsel and Treasures Merchant Mart” at the Ship Bottom Firehouse. Also, they will be selling their Christmas Trees, too! Your one stop shop!

Sunday, December 4:

Ship Bottom Volunteer Fire Company Annual Christmas Tree Sale: 11 a.m to 6 p.m. Fresh-cut Pennsylvania Douglas firs. Price range is $20 for table tops up to $90 for 12- to 13-footers. Free local delivery is offered. Firefighters will be on hand to assist people fitting the trees into their vehicle. For more information visit shipbottomfire@gmail.com.
