Be On LBI Time: Super In September

squarebeonlbi_logoWell all of you awesome LBI lovers, the month may have changed, but there are still fantastic things happening on our sandbar this weekend. Take a look to see what our 18-mile stretch of paradise has in store for you, because Long Beach Island is always Super in September!

Saturday. September 10th:

11th Annual Ship Bottom Irish Festival:  Whether you are Irish or not, the Ship Bottom Irish Festival is the place to be this weekend!  With a Gaelic Mass, wine tasting, a 5k race, and so much more, there is bound to be something for everyone.  Come on down from 11a.m.-10p.m. to the Ship Bottom Boat Ramp Parking Lot to get a sampling of everything Irish!  Gate admission is $10 per person, and children under 15 years are free!

Surf City Fire Company Parade & Housing Ceremony:  This Saturday, from 12p.m.-5p.m., the Surf City Fire Company will be hosting a parade and housing ceremony of their new Rescue Engine—Engine 4913—and Special Operations Truck—Truck 4917.  However, the fun doesn’t stop there, as there will be catered food, beer, drinks, live music, t-shirts, games, judging of fire apparatus, and so much more!  It’s fun for the whole family down in Surf City!

NJ Maritime Museum Annual Fundraiser:  From 5p.m.-11p.m. this Saturday, the New Jersey Maritime Museum will be hosting their annual fundraiser at the museum.  Tickets will be $55 for the general public, and $50 for members, which include a pig roast, seafood, pasta, cash bar, Chinese auction, 50/50 raffle, a silent auction, and even a mechanical shark.  If you are looking to have a good time, and support a timeless institution at the same time, then this is definitely the event for you.

Sunday, September 11th:

LBI Shamrock 5K:  Strap on those running shoes, because the second half of the Ship Bottom Irish Festival—the Shamrock 5k—will be this Sunday, starting at 9a.m.!  The $30 fee per runner/walker includes a t-shirts, and entry to the festival, which will have various vendors and live Irish music all day.  Whether you’re a hardcore runner or casual walker, this is sure to be a great event.

The seasons may have to change, but that doesn’t mean that our sandbar has to end the fun.  No matter what month it is, Long Beach Island is always a great place to be.

Remember our ever-popular free, air conditioned shuttles will continue service this weekend on this schedule:

  • Friday 3pm-11pm
  • Saturday 10am-11pm
  • Sunday 10am-10pm
