When asked, “What is so special about LBI?” the most popular response is “the beach!”
LBI not only boasts some of the East Coast’s finest beaches, each area of LBI is unique in its own way. From Barnegat Light, where the beaches are peaceful and wide, and the landscape is covered with scrubby pines, beach plum, and bayberry plants, to Holgate’s fluffy sandy beaches and inviting dunes. In between, you will find the day-tripper’s beaches of choice in Surf City, Ship Bottom, and Long Beach Township because of their ease of access from the bridge.
If the more serene pace of the bay beach is more to your liking, you are sure to find numerous options as well. Be sure to catch a sunset view from Harvey Cedars’ Sunset Park, or zip around on watercraft from the many bayfront marinas up and down LBI.
Regardless of your LBI beach of choice, it is sure to be a place that meets the needs of big groups as well as those seeking peaceful down time.
*please note that street parking is free on LBI, and that each town has its own beach badge that is required for beach access during lifeguard hours.
