Hey there all of you LBI lovers and welcome to our latest ‘Member Wednesday’, where we get to highlight some of our awesome members and the cool things they do to make Long Beach Island the best place to vacation, live and work!
Today, we’re shining the spotlight on Historic Viking Village. Enjoy!
Currently operating from a HACCP certified, state of the art commercial fishing dock in Barnegat Light, Viking Village was founded in the 1920’s by first generation Scandinavian fisherman. The facility was known as the Independent Fish Company until it was renamed Viking Village, after the original Norwegian founders.
Today, they are the home port to more than 40 independently-owned fishing vessels. Each year, about 5 million pounds of seafood is packed out here and shipped both locally and around the world.
They also ship to selected distributors, supermarket chains, retail fish markets and individual restaurants.
Additionally, Viking Village is hope to an array of unique shops, and hosts many events throughout the year for residents and visitors of the north end to enjoy.
We are so happy that Viking Village is a part of our LBI Chamber member family. Go visit them in Barnegat Light!
